Mazda2 dibekali dengan mesin 1.496 cc, 4 silinder, DOHC, Dual Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) dan Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). Mesin tadi juga dibekali dengan fitur i-Stop. Fitur ini mampu mematikan mesin secara sementara pada saat kondisi macet. Untuk menyalakannya kembali, sang pengemudi hanya perlu menginjakkan pedal gas.

Fitur Canggih Honda Sensing Absen
Semestinya, New Honda Jazz facelift sudah menerima fitur keselamatan kekinian dengan nama Honda Sensing agar semakin canggih dan protektif seperti Mazda2. Sayangnya, Honda Sensing tidak dibawa masuk ke Indonesia. Padahal, Mazda2 telah memiliki i-Activsense.
Teknologi ini berisi hal-hal seperti CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) dapat mengerem mobil secara otomatis. Ada RDM (Road Departure Mitigation System) yang kerjanya memperbaiki setir saat mobil berjalan keluar lajur.
